Subject: George Washington sits astride a white horse on a covered bridge, doffing his hat, surrounded by a crowd of women strewing flowers in his path; in the background, two mounted officers and a crowd of men with raised hats. Atop the bridge is an eagle with outstretched wings holding a banner inscribed "Princeton, Monmouth," in its beak; four American flags; garlands of flowers; and another banner that reads, "Battle of Trenton, Dec. 26th, 1776, the defender of the mothers will be the protector of the daughters." "Entered according to act of Congress in the year 1845 by N. Currier in the Clerk's office of the District Court of the Southern District of New York."
